HOA SEN GROUP WAS HONORED IN “TOP 30 BEST ANNUAL REPORTS 2017”

On February 23rd, 2017, the Annual Report 2017 Voting under the joint coordination of Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE), Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) and Investment Newsaper was officialy initiated. The contest was held with three main objectives:

– Promote the transparency and transmission of information of the Annual reports.

– Enhance professionalism in the Annual reports of listed companies in Vietnam, towards sustainable development and corporate governance standards.

– Enhance investors’ information access for listed companies.

After a period of screening, evaluation and voting carefully, the “Top 50 Best Annual Reports 2017” ceremony was held in the evening of July 25th, 2017 by Vietnam Annual Report Awards at the GEM Center. In particular, Hoa Sen Group was voted in Top 30 Best Annual Reports 2017. Earlier, the Group was honored in this category for many years.

The 2017 Annual Report Awards (ARAs) ceremony was attended by many featured individuals in the stock market: Mr. Tran Van Dung (Chairman of the State Securities Commission), Mr. Vu Bang (Former Chairman of the State Securities Commission), Mr. Tran Dac Sinh (former Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange), Ms. Phan Thi Tuong Tam (General Director of Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange), Mr. Nguyen Son (Chairman of Board of Directors of Vietnam Securities Depository), Mr. Le Cong Dien, (Director of Supervision Department of Public Companies, member of the State Securities Commission) along with other individuals.

The program was started with a vibrant, colorful art performance through a song titled Ngan uoc mo Viet Nam (Thousands of Vietnamese Dreams) presented by singer Vu Cat Tuong and Dance Group ABC kid.

As stressed by Mr. Le Hai Tra (Deputy General Director of HOSE), Head of Organizing Board cum Chairman of Best Annual Report 2017 Voting Council in the program: This is a milestone marking the spreading effect in the perception of transparency meaning to listed companies on the Vietnamese stock market. Public transparency and protection of legitimate interests of investors are not only objectives of the legal system on securities and securities market but a practical effort called “Annual Report Voting” throughout the years as well.

According to sharing of Mr. Le Trong Minh (Editor-in-Chief of Investment Newspaper, Co-head of Organizing Board of Annual Report 2017 Voting) at the ceremony, information transparency is the key to sustainable development of each participant in particular as well as the entire stock market in general.

The list of voted annual reports included all valid annual reports of listed companies on both HOSE and HNX. With the current number of enterprises, there were more than 600 annual reports of registered enterprises of these two exchanges considered in this year’s poll. 125 companies were selected to join the final round for the 50 best Annual Reports to be awarded in the ceremony.

2017 – The year marking 10 years of development and co-operation with the stock market in Vietnam – making the Annual Report 2017 Voting have more new points compared with previous years. On the selection process, the finalists must be reviewed by leading audit firms including International Finance Corporation (IFC), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). This is the most prominent feature of this year’s Voting to ensure accuracy, objectivity and intensiveness in selecting the finalists. In addition, this year’s Voting regulated the addition of bonus points for the annual reports which have financial statements prepared in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and English version.

The Voting 2017 still maintained basic assessment criteria such as standards, transparency, professionalism, creativity and sustainable development on the basis of disclosure manner expressed by the enterprises. Accordingly, the annual reports are selected in the final round in case of coverinf contents which fully reflect material points according to criteria of the Organizing Board.
